Team
Santa Ana opened their
season last week as they
took on Kaos, that
resulted in a fifteen
point victory.
Meanwhile, team Jae Cho
opened their season,
bowing to Young Money by
a final of 23-40 on the
road.
Shooting 41.5 percent
from the field in the
first half, team Santa
Ana found themselves in
a battle as they trailed
team Kaos, 21-20. It was
the second half that
provided Santa Ana with
the easy 15-point win as
the team converted on
56.2 percent from the
floor after the break.
Team Santa Ana also
dialed up the defense
and held team Kaos to a
mere five field goals in
the second half.
Phaksavanh Sayarath
accounted for 18 points,
all from three point
range followed by
Devyn Tou
Pravongviengkham
with 8 points, 7 boards
and 2 assists. Mike
Park knocked down 7
points to go along with
12 rebounds while
Jimmy Ngo chipped in
7 points and 5 rebounds.
As a team, Santa Ana
connected on 8-of-11
from three point range
while out-rebounding
Kaos, 38-29.
In
the opener against Young
Money last week, team
Jae Cho stayed close in
the first half and
trailed by just a
free-throw at the break,
19-20. However, the
offense hit a snag and
the team went down in
the 17-point rout. In
the second half, Jae Cho
suffered the worst
scoring drought in ABA
history as the team
mustard up a mere four
points in the second
half. All four points
came in the third
quarter as Ian Kroll
connected on 23-footer
while Truc Nguyen
hit 1-of-2 at the
charity strip. The
drought continued in
fourth as Jae Cho missed
9-of-9 from the field.
Perhaps the biggest
problem for Jae Cho in
the second half was that
it went to the
free-throw line just one
time, compared to 8
times for the home team.
As a team, Jae Cho
connected on 8-of-14 at
the free-throw line
while hitting 1-of-5
from three points range.
Despite a low scoring
second half, Ian
Kroll finished with
an impressive 16 points,
2 steals, 8 rebounds and
5-of-5 at the charity
line while Truc
Nguyen finished with
4 points and 4 rebounds.
